Title: SFKK Closed Fovever

superbleachbrothers - February 5, 2010 12:31 AM (GMT)
I predicted that SFKK would be closed since Chang was removed.

QUOTE
Six Flags announced today that as it nears the scheduled end of its restructuring process, it has decided to reject its lease with the Kentucky State Fair Board relating to the Kentucky Kingdom park. In recent weeks, Six Flags had proposed a new lease arrangement to the fair board that would have enhanced the viability and future of the park. Unfortunately, those proposals were not accepted and the park will cease operations and the company will move expeditiously to re-locate employees and several of the more than 40 rides and attractions to one of its 13 other markets.

"We are deeply disappointed to be leaving such a great fan base in the greater metropolitan area of Louisville and we are grateful to the thousands of employees at Kentucky Kingdom and the millions of guests for their dedication, support and loyalty over the years," said Mark Shapiro, Six Flags President and CEO.

"This action relates solely to Kentucky Kingdom," Shapiro continued. "The substantial lease
payment has been a significant hurdle for this park in recent years. Our other parks, which reside
largely on company-owned land, will be completely unaffected and will open as scheduled for the full 2010 season."

Was expecting this, but not so soon. So much for drag racing Greezed Lightnin.

It was a nice park when I visited in 2006, and I'm glad I went then, as it seems in the following season it began to go downhill. The S:TOP incident seemed to be this park's death knoll.

Hey Salemi, Tidal Wave needs a home again!

^ I remembered the Accident at KK. All of the rides of that kind were closed including our Giant Drop at GA. I used to make fun of the girl that had her foot clopped.
Since the accident, I'm scared to ride the Giant Drop because of the accident.

Tidal Wave right along the SSA site would be a cool revival

TidalWave would be nice, it's to bad it's such a noisy ride now, God neglect can be terrible on a coaster.

Tiki - February 5, 2010 12:48 PM (GMT)
Is the Tidal Wave that is in that park the actual one that was at SFGA?

Demon_10 - February 5, 2010 10:42 PM (GMT)
I think so or at least most of it

Everything except for the loop; which ironically was donated from The Tidal Wave which ran at Marriott's Great America in Santa Clara, California.

And now they're just going to scrap it? That's not right.
Maybe we should all write to SFGA and ask them to consider it for our park?

Demon_10 - February 7, 2010 06:18 PM (GMT)
^Sounds like a good idea

Tiki - February 7, 2010 08:50 PM (GMT)
I'll write a letter. All they can say is no.

I say we start a letter writing campaign.

I am 99% sure Great America would not take it back, especially if they already have plans for Chang.

What I do suggest, however, is try and convince other nearby parks to rescue it. These include Dollywood, Holiday World, Indiana Beach, Beech Bend, and maybe Stricker's Grove.

I personally would love to see it go to Indiana Beach, as it would be near Chicago again, and it would certainly make a great Tidal Wave revival being next to the lake.

This all, of course, is IF Greezy is not already set to go to another Six Flags.

I have a feeling the rides are either going to Six Flags parks or to the dumpster. I'd love to see it rescued though

What?? Greezy Lightning and the other rides ARE NOT going to other parks. They are property of Kentucky. WHAT THE HELL?? :disappointed:

Because of the bankruptcy, those pieces may all be sold by the trustee without much input from Six Flags. I would like to ride that again. I hope it comes here.

Broken link.

The Tidal Wave would make an appropriate transition between the park and Hurricane Harbor. It could go where the Space Shuttle was. Although I have heard they are marking utilities in that area, so they must be getting ready to dig and build something over there.

superbleachbrothers - February 9, 2010 02:21 AM (GMT)
^ don't forget that GA could be building Chang (if it does come) in the location where the SSA used to be. Also GL is now property of Kentucky.

Here's what I've made. Chang's location would be in in the western side of Carousel Plaza. Most of Chang's location would be 25% on the downer parking lots section.

If anybody knows about Scream at SFMM, the ride's location is on the parking lot. If Scream is on the Parking lot, why can't Chang be on the parking lot at SFGAm? Chang's land could be most on the parking lot.

The ride could take over the Go-Karts and might make way for Chang.

I might tell the Admin of Screamscape about my location of Chang.

Tiki - February 9, 2010 02:39 PM (GMT)
While I am shoveling this awful snow, someone had to post an aerial view of Hurricane Harbor!

They could put Tidal Wave where those go carts are. I hardly see anyone on those things anymore.
