An Intamin bobsled type of a roller coaster that was located where Southwest Territory is. This ride did have lower capacity though. The year after this ride was taken out, the park put Viper in 1995, but put it to the right and further back of where this ride used to be. In 1996, Southwest Territory was built with flat rides like Trailblazer, Ricochet (moved and painted differently from near American Eagle - called Big Top), and Chubasco. I would say that Chubasco, Trailblazer, and all the way to the line for Viper was where Rolling Thunder was at. The Intamin Bobsled has moved to another Six Flags park called The Great Escape that's in New York, and the ride is now named the Alpine Bobsled. It originally came from Six Flags Great Adventure however.
A much similar ride is at Six Flags Over Texas called La Vibora, the cars on that ride are more like Whizzer in which a rider can sit one in back of each other, or sit single. There are 3 rows, and up to 2 people in each row can sit like Whizzer or Condor seating. For Rolling Thunder, riders would be in rows of 2 people (sit side to side) of a 6 person train, but there were multiple trains. La Vibora actually came from Six Flags Magic Mountian. Rolling Thunders colors of the ride were green on the outside, and white on the inside. Rolling Thunder used to make quite a unique sound when going through the course.
My opinion of Rolling Thunder is that it deserves a 10/10. This is definitely a top 10 ride for me, and now it's gone, but I when I went to Six Flags Over Texas, I got to ride La Vibora a lot which is just an awesome ride. I do think the trains on Rolling Thunder are better than La Vibora, but still. To me, this ride doesn't even compare to Cedar Point's Disaster Transport as that is a bobsled ride too, but that ride is more clunky because the cars are bigger. This ride is thrilling to me, but I wouldn't consider it a high thrill ride. It's more of a family friendly type of ride.
