SFGAm Planet
SFGAm News
Six Flags Planet
Thrillnation USA
What a lulzy time that was.
Kinda tempted to buy up all their domains; SFGAmNews's will be expiring next month.
New competition. ;)
Great American Thrills. :)
You weren't around for it, but imagine the recent shitstorm between the GAdv fantards and the SFGAm fantards, and replace the GAdv fantards with more SFGAm fantards and multiply the lulz by 2.
Galvan might remember things better than I do, but basically the World pissed off a guy named Josh, who then launched SFGAmPlanet. They merged with SFGAmNews a year or so later. Around 2004 they tried to launch Six Flags Planet in an "attempt to take down SFGAm World", but they were idiots for advertising their site BEFORE buying the domain!
Guess who got sixflagsplanet.com?
So, they instead launch Thrillnation USA. It flopped. Josh then tried to bring politics into it, and then it totally bombed. So, they shut down only a year after opening.
SFGAm News went up shit creek after 2005; about the only activity they had towards the end was the same troll that used to hit us, the World, and the old Midwest Coaster Madness site. We launched the next year; and when their admin moved to a new house he pulled the plug on SFGAmNews.
After we launched and everybody figured out how to make their own forums, there was a boom in SFGAm fansites. Just about all of them flopped within two years, for various reasons.
Now, the big four are
Coasterchild's Guide to Six Flags Great America
SFGAmWorld

SFGAmZone
^ I'm hoping that my own is up on that list sometime soon. Although many look down upon SS, I find that sending them trip reports and such that link to your site help bring in traffic. Also Jon, how can you be on the 'Friends of The Zone' list?
Man I miss the OG MCM...I also remember all these sites. I also remember a lot of coaster fan sites before Robb raided all of them for members who never returned. I remember when coaster forums were fun...
